Enjoying Where You Are

This weeks blog is something that I’ve been working on, but I haven’t mastered. Enjoying where you are in life. I find this difficult not because I don’t appreciate where I am right now, but because I’m always looking forward to the next step in life. Though to be honest, I am def ready to be done with college (14 weeks!)! I am constantly wanting to be in the next step of life, and it always seems that when I reach that next step that things will be better. In high school, I couldn’t wait to be in college. Now, I can’t wait to be living permanently with my husband. I already can’t wait to start a family. The list just goes on and on. The question is, how can we enjoy right now?

What are you thankful for?

Sit down and think about what you are thankful for right now. For me it could be that I am getting an education in a field I love. I am thankful for my family that is helping me through this time in school. When you think about what you’re thankful for, it puts things into perspective.

Look at how this moment is going to benefit you in the future.

In order for your future dreams to come true, you need to dominate in the here and now. Graduating from college will help me find a career in the future and will help me to provide for a future family. If I want that, I need to finish what I started.

Think positive!

This is extremely hard for me sometimes. It’s easy to think “How am I going to make it through the next 14 weeks?” or “This is the worst!”, but that mindset will just make you feel down. Instead, I am trying to think of the positives, like how proud of myself I’m going to be when I walk across that stage in May. When you think positive, it makes things easier and time wil go by quicker.

Fill up your time.

Stay busy! Time will go by quicker if you are busier. For me, I go to the gym, A LOT, write, read, and work on things for our fashion society. When you stay busy, it makes you feel like you are accomplishing more, which will help you through.

These are just a few things that will make you feel better while waiting for what you have been looking forward to. I hope this helps, because writing it has sure helped me!
