5 Things I’ve Learned in a Year of Marriage

I honestly cannot believe it has been an entire year since I said “I Do” to my best friend. Exactly one year ago today, I was super nervous, wanting our wedding to go perfect. Butterflies because we had been waiting for that day forever. Now look at us, it’s been a year!

I have learned so much from you and marriage in the last year, that the list would be impossible to fully type out, but I’m going to hit some of the most important.

I never have to face anything alone again.

Okay, so I’m emotional and I can get worked up about just about anything. So much has changed this year with people entering and leaving my life, but there is comfort in knowing that no matter what, you will be with me through all of it. You will remain constant in this crazy changing world, and for that, I thank you.

True love will overcome all.

Since I am still in school, we are apart for a month or two at a time, but love conquers that distance and makes us stronger. The best marriages don’t fall apart over distance. We have learned to work through it and turn it to our advantage.

Married life is better than I could have imagined!

Okay, so imagine a sleepover with your best friend except it’s every single day and you never have to leave each other’s sides (except for going to work). Well that is what married life is like! It is such a blast being together and tackling life together. I even look forward to a trip to the store because with you, everything is 10x more enjoyable.

You have a built in nurse.

Just yesterday, I was feeling bad after I ate something weird. All of a sudden you stopped playing video games, brought me to bed, tucked me in, got me water, turned off the light, and made sure I was comfortable. I felt so loved and cared for that I can never thank you enough for making me feel great when I feel in the dumps. This isn’t the first time either! At least once a week. Don’t forget I’ve got your back too!

You get to know your spouse better each and every day.

You never cease to amaze me. I can spend every waking moment of every single day with you and never get bored. You keep things fun and keep me constantly laughing and falling in love with you more and more each day.

Like I said, if I kept going with things I learned and things I am grateful for, I could literally go for thousands and thousands of words. However, you are about to wake up and we will be planning our day so I am just going to end here for now.

Thank God for the life we have together and for the upcoming years. I know they will be just as exciting! I love you.

Also, since we share a love for BTS, here’s a song that reminds me of you!
