22 Things I Learned In 22 Years

1. Everything happens for a reason.

It may seem like the world is ending, but you will soon see the reasoning behind even the worst things that can happen.

2. Time Flies.

It feels like just yesterday I was preparing to graduate high school and now here I am about to graduate college. Don’t blink, because time flies.

3. Not everyone is meant to be in your life forever.

That’s something hard I have learned. Eventually everyone will go their seperate ways and sometimes that means that you might have to let go of some people, which is perfectly okay.

4. Me time is so important.

In the past I always thought I had to be a part of everything there was and that I needed to constantly be with people. I learned that being by yourself sometimes is good and is much needed to stay sane.

5. In everything you go through, you’re never alone.

No matter who you are, there is always someone that cares enough to be with you through the tough times.

6. Be careful who you trust.

Enough said.

7. Life isn’t always fair.

Bad things happen to good people, but that’s life.

8. Take the pictures.

A lot of people today think that we get so consumed with wanting to document things that we don’t enjoy the moment. For me, it’s the opposite. I look back at pictures all the time and am overjoyed with all the memories I have made and documented.

9. Your life isn’t in your timing.

It’s in God’s which is actually such a blessing. I can’t imagine where I would be today if it wasn’t for trusting in God’s timing.

10. Hold those you love close.

Someday those people might not be there and you’re going to wish they were.

11. You don’t have to feel sorry for doing what’s best for you.

You don’t have to explain yourself if you don’t want to go somewhere, drop out of something, etc. You know what is best for YOU and no one else does.

12. You will get through the bad days.

One day you will wonder why you even thought they were that bad.

13. Always be nice.

Let’s be honest….. being nice is not always the easiest thing. However, you never know what someone else is going through. If you have anger and hate in your heart, it can consume you. Be nice to your enemies even if they aren’t that way towards you. God’s light will shine through you to others.

14. Not everyone has your best interests at heart.

And that’s okay because just like how you need to focus on yourself, others need to focus on themselves as well.

15. Mom is always right.

She told me to put this, but I was going to anyway because it is honestly so true. It doesn’t matter what it is, she is always right.

16. Listen to the people you love.

I try so hard to see the good in so many people, so when I’m hurt by someone, it’s usually someone my husband or my family has told me to watch out for. If your family tells you to guard your heart around some people, do it….. they have been there before and somehow know when someone isn’t right for your life.

17. Always lean on God.

All the time.

18. Don’t take anything for granted.

I have been through it all. We find it easy to take everything from our health to our life for granted. Be joyous in the small things because  not everyone gets to experience those things.

19. Forgive.

I have had to forgive so many people in my past. The doctors who messed me up to the person who was driving when I was in the bad accident. Forgiving is a huge part of moving on, but it doesn’t have to mean that you want to be in that person’s life. It helps you move on.

20. Don’t give up on your dreams.

I have had people laugh at me and mock me for wanting to be a writer/ blogger. That doesn’t discourage me, it makes me want to prove those people wrong. Don’t give up on your dreams just because someone says they aren’t reachable. They are!

21. Enjoy the part of life you’re in right now.

This is one I have learned but I am having a very hard time with right now. College is kicking my butt, and I want to get out of here so bad. I’m supposed to be with my husband not here. However, I know that this is God’s timing and I need to try and enjoy where I am right now, because I only have a few more months of it.

22. Don’t be afraid to talk about things.

I went through a time where I thought I had to hide my feelings from my family. That is completely toxic and if you are doing it, stop. If someone makes you feel bad because of what you feel, they aren’t the people you need in your life anyway.
