The Girl Who Saves…..Money!

This blog has always been an idea of mine. An idea that I had  no idea how to go about implementing. Until now that is! Trust me, I know the struggle of  balancing school work, a social life, and money. So I am here to let you in on some of my secrets of staying fashionable on a budget. First, let me introduce myself.

My name is Autumn Mendez, and I am a junior fashion merchandising major. I know what you’re thinking…. “So you design clothes!” Pshhhh no…. I tried using a sewing machine before, and you would not want to wear what I made! Fashion merchandising is the business side of fashion. So the buying, selling, marketing, advertising, store planning, etc. that goes on behind the scenes. Not only am I in love with my major, but I am also in love with my husband….. (Insert sappy picture here.)

We have been married just about a month, but it has been an amazing month! As you can tell, he is in the military so we cannot be together as often as we would like. He keeps me on my feet. He makes every day even better. You know what they say. Absence makes the heart  grow fonder!

My family is very important to me. They have gotten me through so much my life. My brother is currently in Coast Guard boot camp, and I cannot wait to see him again at his graduation! Without my family,  who would I take goofy pictures with? (Insert picture of a family embarrassing themselves, but they don’t care because Mexico here they come!)

Friends? Yeah, I have them! I literally have the  greatest friends there are. You know those movie moments where you think that it is too good to be true to happen in real life? Well that’s how my friends and I met. I will spare you all the details, but let’s just say VT football game in a monsoon. That’s where it pretty much all began! Flashforward to today and they are still the ones who make the bad days good. (Insert picture(s) of these beautiful humans)

An Open letter to my Best Friends

Another interesting (maybe) thing about me is that I have had a lot of medical problems growing up. I was diagnosed with Parathyroid disease when I was twelve years old. After 8 long years, I can finally say I am cured! Basically, I had countless tumors growing in my neck that no one knew what to do with. I had 8 surgeries over the course of that time (3 that were just last year). I have had to travel everywhere from Philadelphia to Tampa to have these surgeries. What does this have to do with my blog you ask? Well, I will get to that in a second.

So, now that you know a bit about me, what does all of this have to do with my blog? Basically, these people and these events made me who I am today. Without them, I would not be in this time and space with the opportunity to start a blog. Also, I learned to work with the money I had after medical expenses, getting married, and being in college. I want to teach others that you can still look great even with living on a college student budget.

So, I hope you join me on this journey. I promise you will look good doing it!

                         This is my PASSION.

You are one awesome young woman and you always bring a smile as I read about you. Enjoyed your blog and cannot wait to see you and your future. And you do have a great life – that is a success in this world as many people truly would trade for one of these successes much less all that you have. Have a great 2018.
